Hello! I’m Suhani Chadha, a student at Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura in Delhi, India.

I can’t pinpoint when writing became such a monumental concept in my life, but I’ll give the credit to my sister (thanks, sis!). As kids, we used to craft endless scenarios with figureheads and dolls. I was practically a matchmaker for Barbie—setting her up with love interests, marrying her off in style, and handling her babies like a pro! But one day, my sister said something that changed everything: “Suhani, you’ve got a spark for storytelling.” It was up to me whether I’d let it remain a spark or turn it into a full-fledged fire.

As I grew, the encouragement didn’t stop there. One of my best friends, and a writer I’ve always admired, would often remind me, “Words are one’s most potent weapon.” This idea stayed with me, and I saw its truth firsthand when I wrote about the July 2023 floods in my city and our preparedness.

This passion for storytelling has taken me to incredible places. As a participant in the Kenyon Review Young Writers Online workshop and an alum of the IWP’s Between the Lines writing program, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with young writers around the world. Together, we’ve explored poetry and prose through diverse perspectives.

That’s why the idea of a community where writers like you and me can freely share our voices enthralls me so much—a space where we can learn, grow and support each other. At Global Inkwell, we do just that. We believe in the power of the perspective every writer brings, of stories that can inspire change.

So… what story will you tell?
